Burlington, IA  - SCC’s Center for Business is offering a new class for those looking for an easy and quick way to learn limited amounts of everyday Spanish.  “Community Spanish” will be offered on Monday evenings from February 11 through April 7, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., at SCC’s Mt. Pleasant Center.

Instructor Maria Mellado, a native Spanish speaker, will teach students to speak and comprehend many common Spanish expressions and phrases and ask basic questions used in daily life.  She will also provide an introduction to everyday life and culture of the Hispanic world.

“This is not an academic, grammar-based class,” said Debbie Leone, coordinator for community education classes at CBIZ.  “It’s designed to provide practical skills to help students better communicate with the Spanish-speaking people in their lives, whether neighbors, customers, or clients. It’s also a good primer for those who plan to travel to Spanish-speaking countries and are nervous about navigating the language and culture.”
