Respiratory Care Club
Purpose
The Respiratory Care Club is designed to assist in various community volunteer activities and fund-raisers that enable student to participate in or attend seminars, lectures or meetings to enhance their knowledge in this field. The club is available to all first-and second-year respiratory care students.
Activities
- Every year students have worked together to raise money to go to the three-day state conference and compete in an academic competition called the “Sputum Bowl”. The Classes of 2003, 2005, and 2006 won the academic competition at the conference and the class of 2006 placed third in the nation.
- Various fundraisers are held annually to contribute to "The Asthma Adventure Camp", a week-long camp designed to provide children with asthma an opportunity to experience camping activities they may otherwise be denied due to their condition. Several SCC students have also volunteered to assist staff during the summer outing.
- During the holiday season, the Respiratory Care Club adopts an area family and provides food, gifts and other essential items.
- Special activities for the AARC's National Respiratory Care Week
