SCC Celebrates National Poetry Month With Brent Cardenas And Roberto Harrison
Southeastern Community College will celebrate April as National Poetry Month by hosting a Visiting Writers Series event on Saturday, April 14, at 8:00 p.m.. Scheduled to read are Brenda Cárdenas and Roberto Harrison, nationally acclaimed and award-winning authors. SCC's Culture on Campus Committee and Di Dante Literature & Writing Club will co-host the event.
SCC to Host Annual Industrial Technology Competitions for High School Students
On Friday, April 13, Southeastern Community College will host carpentry, welding, and computer-aided design (CAD) competitions for over 50 area high school students.

On Tuesday, April 3, SCC will partner with the Keokuk branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to present the organization's findings in their latest report Deeper in Debt: Women and Student Loans.
Annual Great Tastes Fundraiser Set for Friday, April 13
The 12th annual Southeastern Community College (SCC) Foundation Great Tastes event is scheduled for Friday, April 23, 2018 at the PZAZZ! Convention & Event Center. The benefit begins at 6 p.m. with a two-hour wine and beer tasting, hors d'oeuvres, live acoustic guitar by Clay Huston, a pop-up jewelry store, and a silent auction. The live auction and dessert begin at 8 p.m., preceded by some special announcements.
Health Care Job Fair Connects Students, Public with Careers
SCC will host a Health Career Expo and Job Fair at the SCC Health Professions Center on Friday, April 6, beginning at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public.
Business and Computer Clubs Head to National Conference
Thirteen students from Southeastern Community College's Business and Computer Clubs earned top ranks at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference in Des Moines on February 18-19.

In recognition of Women in History Month, Southeastern Community College will host a special presentation entitled, "How Black and White Women Receive and Perceive Each Other." The program will take place on the Keokuk campus next Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Student Lounge.
Hal Chase to Present Outside In: African American History in Iowa at on Feb 21
In recognition of Black History Month, Southeastern Community College will host Dr. Hal Chase for two presentations of Outside In: African-American History in Iowa, 1838-2018. Dr. Chase will present at noon in the Industrial Technology Training Center on SCC’s Keokuk campus and at 6:30 p.m. in room 123 on West Burlington’s campus on Wednesday, February 21.

SCC will offer free assistance to persons need help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at its FAFSA Ready Iowa event on Saturday, February 17 at both the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.
March 1 Deadline for $300,000 in Scholarships from SCC Foundation
The Southeastern Community College Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships for students who plan to attend SCC in the fall. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. CDT, March 1, 2017.
Men's, Women's Cross Country Comes to SCC this Fall, Christianson Tapped to Lead
Southeastern Community College will roll out men's and women's cross country programs in August. Head Coach Nathan Christianson has been tapped to steer both squads.

SCC President Dr. Michael Ash will receive the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2018 District VI Chief Executive Leadership Award at its annual conference in St. Louis on January 29.
STEMFest Returns to SCC in West Burlington on February 10
The fifth annual Southeast Iowa Regional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Festival (STEMFest) will take place at SCC's West Burlington campus on Saturday, February 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The event is a joint effort between SCC, the Southeast Iowa STEM Hub, local businesses, manufacturers, and educators.

Scheduled to appear are poets Katherine Gibbel and Alyssa Moore, two writers from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop in Iowa City. SCC's Di Dante Literature & Writing Club will co-host.

SCC Hosts Open House for New Auto Tech Lab on Keokuk Campus Oct. 24
SCC will host an open house for its new Automotive Technology Lab on its Keokuk campus on Tuesday, October 24 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Made possible in part by a $10,000 grant from the Iowa Auto Dealers Association, the lab is equipped with auto lifts, tool chests and class-related equipment.
The Second Annual Dirty Hawk 5K Comes to SCC on October 14
Southeastern Community College (SCC) will host its second annual Dirty Hawk Dash 5K on Saturday, October 14 in West Burlington. This mud run will take racers on a 5K loop over, through and around SCC's West Burlington campus with plenty of obstacles along the way.
