Preparing for tomorrow’s careers today

Across the nation, thousands of workers are needed in healthcare, skilled trades, science, technology, engineering and math. Our region is no exception. As our economy rebounds and growth opportunities are realized, these needs will only increase.

We are determined to give students the chance to improve their lives, to help businesses train the skilled workers they need to be competitive, and to give our region a highly skilled workforce that will encourage existing businesses to expand and new businesses to set up shop in our region.

In early 2014, we consulted thought leaders from throughout the region to identify ways we can help students and businesses succeed and to determine the college's readiness to embark on a capital campaign. Together, we identified the following priorities.

Industrial Technologies Training Center >

A state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical technology lab equipped with more than $1 million in training equipment on the Keokuk campus. We held a ribbon cutting in June 2017 and it's now fully operational with our hybrid (half online, half in class) Industrial Maintenance Technology programming in full swing. Stop by for a look!

Health Professions Center >

This modern teaching facility now serves as a virtual hospital for all of SCC’s health professions programs on the West Burlington campus. It is a colorful, inspirational and energy efficient learning space. In 2018, the facility won the Iowa Chapter of the  American Institute of Architect's 2018 People's Choice Award! Come for a tour to see why!

Hall of Sciences >

The Hall of Sciences facility was complete in the summer of 2018. It has labs and classrooms for SCC’s physical and life science programs, as well as faculty and student space on the West Burlington campus.

Blackhawk Student Center & Residence Hall >

This uniquely designed residence hall on the West Burlington campus opened in January 2017. It's almost at capacity and plans are underway to build a second tower.
