SCC and Iowa Wesleyan Alliance

Soar and Roar with the SCC and Iowa Wesleyan University Alliance

Soar at SCC. Roar at IW.

Great news! SCC has teamed up with Iowa Wesleyan University. The alliance, known as the Southeast Iowa Higher Education Alliance (SIHEA), gives students increased access and opportunities to complete their higher education right here in southeast Iowa.

It's all designed to bring the best of each institution together for your benefit.

FAQ

Does this mean SCC is now a 4-year college?
No. SCC proudly continues serving the region as a community college offering over 30 career and technical programs and transfer degrees. This alliance will streamline opportunities for you to earn a bachelor's and even a master's degree without having to leave the region.

Did Iowa Wesleyan and SCC merge?
No. Each school remains its own entity. SCC will continue to offer diplomas, certificates, and 2-year degrees. Iowa Wesleyan will continue to offer their own unique selection of bachelors and masters degrees.

How are current students impacted?
More resources and opportunities will be available for SCC students who want to earn a four-year degree, including transfer scholarships and streamlined transfer programs for select majors for SCC students.

I'd like to sign up for a 1- or 2-year program. Can I still do that at SCC?
Yup! We're your connection to get the skills you need for the career you want. You might even be able to attend SCC tuition-free with the Last Dollar Scholarship if you enroll in an eligible program!

Will there be changes to SCC programs?
The alliance won't impact SCC program offerings.

Can I transfer to IW before I graduate from SCC?
Transfer scholarships are only available to outgoing SCC grads. We recommend completing your AA, then finish up at IW to take full advantage of money saving opportunities.

I plan to transfer to a 4-year school other than IW. Can I still do that?
Of course! We are your stepping stone to the future you want regardless of which college you choose to attend. In addition to this alliance with IW, SCC will continue to offer transfer agreements with over 15 schools in Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois.

I'm an SCC alumnus. Do I qualify for these new opportunities?
The resources and scholarships offered by the alliance will go into effect at the beginning of the fall 2021 semester. They are currently only available to outgoing SCC grads who plan to transfer directly to IW.

Learn about other resources and financial aid opportunities at IW.

Will tuition costs be affected by this change?
This alliance does not impact SCC tuition rates. Both SCC and IW will offer transfer scholarships to SCC grads who transfer directly to IW after graduating from SCC.
As always, we encourage you to apply for all available financial aid and scholarships.

When will this take effect?
Students will be able to take advantage of the first round of benefits starting in the 2021-2022 school year.
