The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) at Southeastern Community College has been awarded certification by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) as a Level 1 certified tutor training program.
The AAC located on both the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses and hosts free professional and peer tutoring for students.
“The AAC supports SCC's mission to promote student success,” Mariah Wolfe, as SCC's learning resources coordinator, shared. “We're here to provide the services students need to achieve their academic goals.”
Wolfe stepped into her role as SCC's learning resources coordinator this fall and gives credit to the staff who worked to earn this prestigious certification before her arrival.
“It isn't easy to earn this certification, and we wouldn't want it to be,” Wolfe says. “Our students can walk into the Academic Achievement Center knowing they will get the high quality support they deserve to do their best work.”
Achieving certification means that the AAC has met CRLA's rigorous standards for tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation as an integral part of its overall tutoring program.
For more than 30 years CRLA has been a leader in learning assistance, reading, and academic support programs with almost 1,300 members and over 2,000 certified training programs worldwide.
