Registration for SCC's popular Kidtek Summer learning program is now open

Registration for SCC's popular Kidtek summer learning camps is now open. These hands-on and career-focused camps are geared toward students in grades 4-6 and 7-9. Over 30 camps explore subjects including animation, robotics, science, welding, cooking, and cyber security, along with other STEM-related topics.

Camps take place in June and July at sites in Burlington, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, and West Burlington. Virtual camps will also be offered.

All camps run Monday through Thursday. Times vary. Face-to-face classes take place from 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., and virtual classes are offered from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m, or 3:30 – 6 p.m.

“I'm excited for the great lineup of camps again this year, ” said Beth Nickel, Sales & Marketing Director of SCC Center for Business. “We're bringing back our most popular camps and will roll out some new camps, so there really is something for everybody.”

The fee is $179 for each week-long face-to-face camp and $149 for each virtual camp. Full and partial scholarships are available for qualifying families.

“Some families don't know that they can apply for scholarships to make the camps more affordable,” said Nickel.“It's all thanks to the generous businesses and organizations that underwrite scholarships so that many of our area kids can attend camps.”

Scholarship underwriters include AIM Credit Union, Alliant Energy, Big River Resources, Burlington STEM Foundation, Climax Molybdenum, CNH Industrial, Conagra Brands, Delta Kappa Gamma, Des Moines County Community Foundation, Greater Burlington Partnership, LJ Roth, Menke & Co., Roquette, SCC Intermediary Network, Silgan Containers, Fort Madison, and Walmart.

The first round of scholarship applications are due by Friday, April 28. Additional scholarships will be awarded in May, so families are encouraged to apply past the first round deadline.

“The scholarship process is pretty easy and we're able to help a lot of families,” explained Nickel. “We want to award the money so kids can take advantage of this great opportunity. But you have to apply.”
