SARA Authorization

SCC has been approved by the state of Iowa to participate in the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. Iowa became a SARA state in 2015. SCC became a SARA institution in 2016.

SCC is exempt as authorized under Iowa Code Chapter 260C.

SCC online courses and programs are available to students in all SARA states. If you reside or plan to be educated California, please check with the Vice President of Academic Affairs to be sure there are no restrictions in these non-SARA states.

Student Complaints

SCC maintains a process for students to submit complaints and concerns.

For cases that cannot be satisfactorily resolved internally using the above procedures, SCC provides both current and prospective students with the following contact information for filing complaints with its accrediting body and the appropriate state agency.

DISTANCE EDUCATION students shall contact Iowa's SARA portal agency, which is Bureau of Iowa College Aid, Iowa Department of Education.
