Toyota and Southeastern Community College have partnered to offer two specialized certification training programs. This is the first step in building a career as Toyota Technician at a dealership or service center.

  • Toyota TECS Elite automotive technology training
  • Toyota CRR Elite auto collision and repair training

Toyota TECS Elite

The Technician Education College Support (TECS) class is designed to give students the ability to earn a certification as a Toyota Maintenance Level Technician.

Students completing the TECS Elite curriculum will become Toyota Maintenance Certified. Additionally, the students receive 80 hours hands-on skills training related to brakes, steering suspension, tire repair, and general maintenance.

Toyota CRR Elite

The Collision Repair and Refinish (CRR) provides students with Toyota/Lexus collision repair and refinish certification.

Upon completion, graduates become Toyota Certified Technicians. You can apply for open service technician positions at Toyota or Lexus dealerships, or any automotive service operation, including independent service and repair shops.

Toyota TECS Elite

What will I learn in Toyota TECS Elite?

Service, Toyota Tire and Wheel Service, Toyota Pre-Delivery Service, Toyota Recall & Service Campaign Essentials, and how to use a TIS (Technical Information System). You will also get the opportunity to work on cars specifically given to SCC by Toyota/Lexus.

Also, you will complete 80 hours of hands-on skills training related to Toyota Breaks, Steering and Suspension, Tire Repair, and General Maintenance.

How long is the class and when do you offer it?

TECS Elite courses run concurrently with our auto technology program during the first semester. Students may take up to 16 weeks to complete the TECS Elite portion of the program.

Where is the class offered?

The TECS Elite training classes are offered on our campus in West Burlington.

How much does TECS Elite cost?

There is no additional cost for TECS Elite for students in the Automotive Technology program. It is included in the cost to attend SCC.

Can I get financial aid or other tuition assistance to take the class?

If you currently work at a dealership or auto shop, your employer may be willing to sponsor you. You may also want to apply for the FAFSA which will account for whether you are eligible for Last Dollar Scholar which only applies for Iowa students.

I already work at a Toyota dealership. Can they pay for me to take the class?

The Toyota/Lexus dealership and SCC partner together to see if you are a good fit for the program and for their business. A job interview will take place at the dealership. If the interview is a success, you will be recommended for sponsorship to enroll with us by the dealership. We will work out a schedule so that you can work and go to school at the same time. We are flexible to helping you make the most of your education and work life!

I'm already working in a shop. Do I have to take the degree program to take the class?

At this time, the TECS Elite class is open to current students only.

Do I have to buy tools or equipment to take the class?

While the purchase of tools is not required, students are encouraged to take advantage of the Tool Excellence Program through Snap-On where students are able to purchase tools at a discounted price.

Toyota CRR Elite

What will I learn in Toyota CRR Elite?

Several specializations are taught within both paint/refinishing and body repair. This includes Welding Techniques for Collision Repair, Electrified Powertrain Vehicle System for Collision Repair, Non-Structural Body Repair, Toyota & Lexus Safety Sense, Color Matching for Painters, and more.

After completing and passing the program, students are at the certified level of collision repair and refinish technicians. With tenure and additional requirements, master status can be obtained.

How long is the class? When and when do you offer it?

Our Toyota CRR Elite training class lasts 4-weeks and is offered on our West Burlington campus.

2024 dates: May 20 - June 13

7:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Are there requirements for me to take this summer class?

Yes. Anyone interested must have completed their diploma or AAS in Collision Repair. They also must have an I-CAR Pro-Level 1 in Non-Structural Repair, and Refinishing.

How much does Toyota CRR Elite cost?

The cost for this class is $2,789.

Can I get help paying for the class?

The CRR TECS program is non-credit which means you cannot use financial aid. However, you can apply for a Toyota TECS CRR Elite Grant.

Also, if you currently work at a body shop, your employer may be willing to sponsor you.

I work at a Toyota dealership. Can they pay for me to take the class?

Probably.

Toyota/Lexus dealerships throughout the Midwest allow for staff training. You'll go through a job interview at the dealership. If you pass the interview, the dealership will recommend you for sponsorship to enroll in the class.

We will work with the dealership on a schedule that allows you to continue to work as you complete the class.

I already work in the collision repair field. Does that count? Or are there any other requirements for me to take the class?

To be eligible, students who want to take the 4-week CRR Elite program must already have completed their diploma or AAS in Collision Repair and Refinish. They also will need to have their I-CAR Pro-Level 1 in Non-Structural Repair, and Refinishing

Is there a grant or other help to pay for the class?

Yes! This summer, there is a grant of up to $1,000.
