Office of the President
Dr. Michael Ash became president of Southeastern Community College on September 4, 2012.
Under his leadership, SCC has seen its biggest college facilities expansion and renovation initiatives since the early 1990s. New projects include new facilities for health, industrial technology, the sciences programming, along with numerous refurbished labs, art galleries and classrooms. The college has also partnered with local developers to build a 4-story residence hall and completely renovated two other halls, along with a new student recreation center.
SCC has also expanded its collegiate athletic programs, adding new men's and women's soccer, cross country, and track & field.
His passion for the SCC is shared with each new candidate for positions at the college when he meets with them personally and shares his belief that, “We don't have to be the biggest community college in Iowa, but we can be the best.” He also has continued to remind us all that “I'm not telling you it is going to be easy, but I'm telling you it's going to be worth it!”
Dr. Ash has dedicated his life to helping students receive the very best and thus become the very best they can. During his 30+ years of experience in higher education administration, counseling, teaching, advancement, and resource development he has been a team player for student growth.
