Am I responsible for verifying my enrollment?

Chapter 30, 1606 and 33 (Post 9/11) students must verify their enrollment monthly by by Interactive Voice Response (IVR).

The preferred method for Chapter 30 and 1606 is WAVE which allows students to verify their enrollment now, click here. Students must be currently enrolled in an approved education program and must have a current benefit award to use WAVE.

IVR allows students to "phone-in" (877) 823-2378 their monthly verification.

The preferred method for Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) students is by text or email. For information on verifying enrollment for Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) click here.

No payment will be sent until this is done. Remember to do this each month!

During the semester, what information do I need to communicate to my VA Certifying Official?

You need to notify the VA Certifying Official anytime you change your enrollment status by adding or withdrawing from class(es). You will also want to notify your VA Certifying Official when you change your address, phone number, major or pre-register for the following semester.

All students receiving VA Educational Benefits are required to attend classes. If you stop attending classes, these benefits will be terminated with an effective date of the last date you attended classes.

This could create an overpayment and a debt owed by you to the government.

Are there satisfactory progress standards I need to meet?

Students are required to maintain a 2.00 cumulative GPA to meet satisfactory progress. If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.00, you will be placed on probation. You will have a probationary term (next enrolled semester) to bring your cumulative GPA up to the above standard. If at the end of the probationary term your GPA does not meet the 2.00 standard, the Veterans Administration will be notified and your VA funding will be terminated.

If you are terminated for unsatisfactory progress, you may again be re-certified for educational benefits.

The VA requires the student to sit out a semester (fall or spring) before re-enrolling in classes.
